Founder

F.H. Hall

In 1947, F.H. Hall started our company with a 12-page catalog and a vision for the future. After returning from the military in 1953, his son Jack “Skinny” Hall decided to go into the mail-order linemen supply business, just like his father. The pair grew their customer base and product offerings until F.H.’s death, when Skinny took over the business with the help of his mother, Evelyn, and sons, Rick and Jim.

Four generations of Halls

Growing up in the linemen supply business, Rick had a keen interest in finding ways to improve Hall’s inventory. After assuming the presidency in 1986, Rick worked with boot companies to design lineman boots with all the features professional climbers needed but had never found all in one boot. He listened to the customers who had supported his family for so many years and came up with a line of boots that changed the industry.

Hall’s proprietary boot designs are still the best available, and are even sold by many of the companies that originally rose as our competitors, making us the number one provider of safety boots in the U.S. We back our boots with the best warranty in the industry and first-class customer service.

Rick also grew our product inventory to over 30,000 tools, boots, apparel, equipment, and other essentials. Hall’s customers have come to us by word of mouth for generations, looking for our boots. But they stick around throughout their entire climbing career because of our excellent prices.

In 2019, Rick lost his battle with cancer and his son, Ryan Hall, took over as President of Hall’s Safety Equipment. Ryan and General Manager Christian Skibinski are working hard to bring a modern edge to this four-generation family business, honoring the great tradition of Hall’s quality while streamlining business practices to make service and pricing even better for our loyal customers.
